His attack on Roumania for its oppression of the Hungarians in Transylvania in the House of Lords last week has gotten Lord Newton in bad with the anti-Semites.

Instead of attempting to answer the attack, the “Victorui” seeks to argue it down by “charging” that Lord Newton is a Jew. The paper declares that Lord Newton’s father was a native of Orademare, that he emigrted to England in 1860. founded a brewery and made a fortune. In return for loams of money to the then Prince of Wales, a barony was conferred on him, according to the story.

The “Victorul” gives no evidence in support of the contention that Lord Newton is of Jewish origin, unless it be the fact that he demands fair treatment for the oppressed can be construed as such evidence.
