The arrest of a number of Zionists in the city of Witebsk was the result of a confession made by one of the arrested Zionists in Minsk. This was disclosed when the Minsk Zionist attempted suicide because of regret over his action.

The Zionist referred to was arrested in Minsk and was tortured by the “Ogpu” until he gave out the names of his comrades, who are members of the Zionist Organization in Witebsk. He was then released, but on account of his confession was boycotted by his friends and relatives. He then made an attempt as suicide, leaving a letter in which he stated that he was unable to stand any longer the moral disgrace, and that he wanted posterity to know that he was by no means a provacateur.

The name of the Zionist is known to your correspondent, but he is not in a position to publish it.
