Palestinian merchants were greatly surprised by the issuance of the government orders which introduce a higher tariff on nearly all articles imported to Palestine from abroad.

The merchant delegation will appear before Sir Gilbert Clayton Civil Secretary of the Palestinian government, now acting High Commissioner in the absence of Sir Herbert Samuel, and will ask for the postponement of the date when the ordinance is to come into effect.
