“whitechapel, the London section mostly populated by Jews, has a historical Jewish constituency. The electors of Whitechapel are entitled to send a Jewish member to parliament for the purpose of safe-guarding and advancing their legitimate interests”, declared Major H.L. Nathan, Liberal candidate for Parliament who is running in opposition to Gosling, the present Minister of Transports in the Labor Government.

“No other than a Jew himself knows the anxiety, the troubles and the desires of his fellow Jews. For years there has been no Jewish member in the House of Commons who actively protected the legitimate interests of the Jews; now is the time, particularly in view of the political and economic situation in Palestine. I am strongly in favor of the faithful carrying out of the Balfour Declaration for the purpose of creating a Jewish National Homeland in Palestine”, Major Nathan stated.

Major Nathan, who volunteered in the army during the World War, is at present legal advisor of the Zionist Organization, the Keren Hayesod and the Economic Board of the Rutenburg concession. He is also a frequent contributor to Palestine funds.
