A Zionist Council of Greater New York with plans for increased Zionist activities was formed at a conference of Zionist workers in New York City, held at Scarsdale, N. Y., on Sunday. Over 100 representatives were present. The delegates were the guests of Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Rongy at their summer home.

The Hon. Carl Sherman was elected president of the Council. Dr. S. M. Melamed was chosen vice-president and Dr. Rongy treasurer. Other members of the council are Dr. B. Levenson, D. H. Caplan, J. Schuster, A. Hessen, Dr. Balber, J. Rudowsky, H. G. Robins, A. Brumberg, Nathan Elkin, Max Jelin and Edward Spiegel. A fund to erect a Zionist center in New York was started by a donation of Mrs. Rongy.

The purpose of the conference was to increase the membership of the Zionist Organization in New York City so that it should serve as a stimulus to other cities throughout the country.
