Despite the catastrophic end of the “Italia” expedition to the Arctic region, science will be enriched, due to the observations made on the flight by the Italian Jewish scientist, Aldo Pontremoli, a member of General Nobile’s party.
The observations made by Pontremoli, professor at the Milan Polytechnic Institute who was invited by General Nobile to participate in the expedition, were rescued, although grave fears are entertained for the scientist, who is counted among those lost, General Nobile stated in a message to the Italian press.
