Education Minister Orders Measure to Prevent Anti-Jewish Attacks (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Loss of exemption from military service as a punishment for participation in anti-Jewish riots and for causing disturbance of the peace, was threatened in an ordinance issued by the new Minister of Education, Kostacescu.

The University authorities were informed that in case of anti-Semitic student riots, those guilty of disturbance of the peace will immediately be drafted into the army. This measure was taken, it was declared, in the belief on the part of the government that it will prove to be effective against the continuous agitation said to be carried on by the opposition parties among the student body in connection with the election campaign.
