Hoover Receives Herman Bernstein in Washington

Herman Bernstein was received by Herbert Hoover, President-elect, at his suite at the Mayflower Hotel yesterday. Mr. Bernstein conferred with Mr. Hoover at length. It was the first time since the election that President-elect Hoover conferred with Mr. Bernstein, who was very active in support of Mr. Hoover’s candidacy during the campaign.

When questioned following the interview, Mr. Bernstein declined to make any statement.

Congregation Tifereth Israel of Des Moines, Iowa, has purchased the Parkview clubhouse and site, and will erect a synagogue and school on the spacious clubhouse grounds. L. Oransky, president of the congregation, announced.

The synagogue and school will cost approximately $100,000. They will be operated in connection with the clubhouse.

It is planned to start building operations by April 1 and it is proposed to have the building completed by September, in time for the celebration of the High Holidays.
