December 21 has been designated as “Hadassah Sabbath,” when rabbis and lay speakers in all parts of the country will make addresses on the medical and health work of Hadassah in Palestine and its influence in American Jewish life. “Hadassah Sabbath” will be the culmination of a membership campaign, during which it is hoped the enrollment will be increased to 50,000.
The same day marks the sixty-ninth birthday of Miss Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah, who is now on her way to Palestine to resume her duties as director of health and education in the Palestine Zionist Executive. The birthday of Hadassah’s leader will give added impetus to the already widespread interest in the campaign. From-many cities have come reports of spirited activity in the drive, and indications are that the Sabbath appeal will result in considerable gains.
