Praising the sturdiness and independent self-reliance of the Jews of Canada, Premier R. B. Bennet, sent the following New Year’s message to Canadian Jewry through the Canadian Jewish Chronicle:

“I consider it a privilege to be able to extend to the Jewish citizens of Canada a Rosh Hashanah message. I do it with the greater pleasure because I am conscious, as every Canadian must indeed be conscious, of the contribution of the Jewish race to Canada’s progress.

“Possibly the most characteristic quality of the Canadian Jew is a sturdy and independent self-reliance. I feel sure that this quality will stand him in good stead in the coming year as it had in the past, and make that year for him one of happiness and prosperity.

“R. B. Bennet.”
