The first bold Jewish action following the rioting at the University of Vienna, in which many Jewish students were injured, was taken yesterday when the former Jewish general, Sommer, who is president of the Jewish Front Soldiers, submitted to the Government a memorandum demanding that anti-Semitic disturbances be discontinued at the university. Otherwise, he said, the soldiers’ unit would take steps to organize a defense for the students.
The American Embassy yesterday took up the report of Harry Plashker and Alexander Barrow, American students who were injured in the heavy rioting Tuesday.
The Nazis clashed with Heimweh# yesterday at the Vienna Technical Institute but no Jews were involved in the disorders.
