A city-wide membership drive has been launched by the metropolitan conference of B’nai B’rith, headquarters of which are at 36 West Sixty-ninth street. Delegates from Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn lodges pledged cooperation.
Dr. I. M. Rubinow, national secretary, announced in a letter read at the conference that the last of the hundreds of World War orphans, “adopted” by B’nai B’rith, has reached an age at which the order’s obligations cease. B’nai B’rith distributed more than $210,000 for the orphans in Europe and has won the special commendation of High Commissioner James G. McDonald, of the German Refugee body.
