Speaking at the annual dinner of the Y. M. C. A., inaugurating a drive for $20000 for the organization membership, Rabbi Emanuel Sternheim, of this city appealed for a fight against religious persecution as exemplified in Hitlerite Germany.

He pleaded that “the escutcheon of the Stars and Stripes shall never be sullied by hatred and intolerance and persecution,” and asked that all faiths join “in an effort to cleanse, purify, sustain, ennoble, enrich and uplift our city, and to establish freedom forever for all classes, races and creeds.”
