Rabbi Louis L. Mann of Sinai Temple urged that churches and synagogues withdraw their chaplains from the fields of battle in any wars of the future. He made this suggestion in a talk before the International Economic Crisis conference at the Morrison Hotel. About 500 attended.

“Chaplains,” Dr. Mann asserted, “are not called to battle fields to comfort the dying and bury the dead but to give divine sanction to the business of killing.”

Other speakers were Sherwood Eddy, Miss Faith Ralph and Kirby Page, editor of the World Tomorrow.
