The selection of Vice Chancellor Franz von Papen as special Minister to Austria was hailed here today with undisguised satisfaction by the semi-official government newspaper Reichspost, which characterized the appointment as a peace proposal by Chancellor Hitler.

The Reichspost, which immediately issued an extra edition announcing the appointment, welcomed Herr von Papen and saw his mission as the accomplishment of a reconciliation between the two countries.
