The hint rather brazenly set down in these columns last week that the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company which since Labor Day has been giving Gilbert and Sullivan operettas would continue its run beyond the original date fixed for its completion has been confirmed by an announcement from the Martin Beck Theatre. The demand for seats has been so great that the famous English company will perform another month.

The current offering, “The Mikado.” which opened last night, will continue until Thursday of this week when “The Yeoman of the Guard,” a piece seldom seen over here, will be given for three days. Next week “Ruddigore” and “Princess Ida” will divide the six evenings and with these two tuneful operettas the first and original four weeks will have been completed.
