Palestine to Halt Work; Plan Colony Memorial

All work will be halted in Palestine tomorrow between twelve noon and two o’clock during the funeral of the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild in Paris. The call for cessation of work was issued by the Vaad Leumi, Jewish National Council of Palestine, and Chief Rabbis A. I. HaCohen Kook and Jacob Meir.

A campaign to create a new colonization area in Palestine to be named for the Baron will be opened at once, Dr. Nahum Sokolow, president of the World Zionist Organization, announced today at a memorial meeting for Baron de Rothschild. The campaign will be made under the auspices of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, of which the Baron was honorary president since 1929. Other speakers included Chief Rabbi Kook. , Menachem Mendel Ussishkin and Isaac Ben Zvi.

Hundreds of messages of condolence were despatched to Paris to the family of the Baron.
