Vladimir Jabotinsky, president of the World Union of Zionist Revisionists, presenting the case of his party in an address Saturday night in the auditorium of the City College School of Business and Civic Administration, Lexington avenue and Twenty-third street, said social justice dictates that the Arabs give up Palestine to the Jews.
An audience of 1,200 heard the Revisionist chieftain’s remarks. The occasion was a mass meeting arranged by the Manhattan chapter of Avukah, American Student Zionist Federation.
ETHICS INVOLVED
Asserting that the conflict with the Arabs involved “unpleasant ethical questions,” Jabotinsky pointed out that 40,000,000 Arabs occupy a territory whose equivalent in area in Europe is peopled by ten times that number, while “little Palestine” is less than one per cent of Arab land.
“If you admit self-determination for the Arabs,” the speaker asked, “where shall the Jews go? There is nowhere for them to go. Shall they go on starving and suffering because the world has not been evenly distributed?”
AVOIDS CURRENT PROBLEMS
For the most part, Jabotinsky skirted current problems connected with the establishment of the Jewish homeland and concentrated his attention upon those questions “which worry the brain and conscience of the young student of Zionist phenomena.”
Jacob de Haas, historian, who also spoke, said:
“So far as the solution of the Jewish problem is concerned only one answer is possible—the creation of the Jewish state.”
Of a new appeal by the Juedische Rundschau for suspension of the anti-Nazi boycott, De Haas declared:
“We will not be moved by that paper’s apologetics.”
