Greek Paper Adopts Stand Against Jews

Nea Alithia, organ of the Venizelist faction published here, and which formerly maintained a neutral position as regards the Jews, today turned anti-Semitic and published a leading article bitterly attacking the Jews.

The newspaper alleges that the Jewish community in Salonica has been intriguing in government circles so that they may have their Jewish schools housed in the buildings recently erected by the government and originally designated to serve as elementary schools for Greek children.

The Jewish Community today officially denied these charges, declaring them false and unfounded.

A protest against the articles appearing in the Nea Alithia was lodged with the authorities by the Jewish Community, which pointed out that they were highly inflammatory and may serve to provoke anti-Jewish attacks.
