Desecration of Jewish cemeteries by bands of Nazi vandals today spread to Detmolde, in the province of Lippe.
There a gang of hoodlums raced through the Jewish cemetery, upsetting tombstones and leaving the cemetery a scene of destruction.
The same band also ransacked the synagogue on Friedrichstrasse, smashing doors, benches and candlesticks.
The police started an investigation, but no arrests have as yet been made.
