The Jerusalem correspondent of The Times reports today that the Arab leadership has decided to ruin the season’s citrus trade in the hope of compelling large numbers of Arabs who would normally be employed in the harvesting and shipping of crops to join the rebellion.
The Times declares in an editorial that it is imperative that the British Government as soon as “the zero hour strikes,” be ready to give immediate effect to whatever political decisions are taken after the Partition Commission submits its report on the proposed three-way division of the Holy Land. A decision, it adds, cannot be ‘postponed longer than necessary without grave risk to British prestige and without imperilling prospects of a final settlement.
