The American Jewish Congress announced today that its Governing Council has voted to support the Committee to Defend America by Aiding the Allies, chairman of which is William Allen White. Purpose of the committee is to extend aid to the Allies short of war.

The Congress, it was announced by President Stephen S. Wise, is seeking signatures to a petition circulated by the Committee, enlisting the help of Congress branches throughout the country. The petition calls upon President Roosevelt and the United States Congress to make available to the Allies planes and relief funds, to stop export of war materials to aggressor nations and to take any other necessary measures short of war to aid the Allies.

In announcing support of the White Committee, Dr. Wise said: “The American Jewish Congress holds that the surest defense of America will lie in aiding the Allies and thus to keep the war out of America and America out of the war. The action of the American Jewish Congress is in fullest support of the President of the United States.”
