A Nazi bomber scored a direct hit on a house in which a Beth Din (rabbinical tribunal) was meeting in East London this afternoon. All those present escaped injury, although numerous casualties and serious damage occurred in the vicinity.

Latest reports on last night’s raids disclose that damage in certain East End districts was as great as any since the beginning of the Blitzkrieg.

Only a week ago Dr. Joseph H. Hertz, British Chief Rabbi, had a narrow escape while walking in a garden of a hotel in a northeast town when a bomb fell nearby. He was blown off his feet by the concussion and was bruised and shaken.
