Chief Rabbi Hezog of Palestine has asked the Pope’s representative in Jerusalem to endeavor to obtain the Pope’s intercession with Germany for the cessation of the deportations of Jews from Nazi-held European countries, it was revealed here today at a conference of Slovak Jews.

Such intervention by the Pope has proven ineffective, the conference was told by leaders of Slovakian Jewry now in Palestine. Speakers at the conference reported that tens of thousands of Slovak Jews were deported to the Lublin district in occupied Poland.
