Executions of non-Jews in occupied Poland for giving shelter to Jews fleeing the ghettos, where men, women and children are now being slaughtered in accordance with Goebbels’ recent order: “No Mercy for Jews,” are reported here today.

The report, which comes from the Polish underground, confirms that the Nazi authorities are determined to “liquidate” all the ghettos in Poland and are exterminating the Jews there either through mass-executions on the spot, or by sending them to unknown destinations where they disappear without any trace. It reveals that many thousands of Jews have been executed by the Nazis throughout Poland since the beginning of this month.

Relating how the Nazis are carrying out their huge extermination campaign against the remnants of Polish Jewry, the report discloses that a former Polish Minister, Kozlovsky, and other Polish traitors who collaborate with the Nazis, are publishing articles in the Nazi-controlled press in Poland justifying the Nazi brutality against Jews, “Most of the population, however, admire and are in sympathy with the heroic resistance which the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto and in other ghettos have put up prior to being massacred,” the report adds.

PARTISANS SAVE JEWISH CHILDREN; DR. ISAAC SCHIPPER EXECUTED

Polish underground newspapers reaching here today, including “Robotnik,” “Ludowa Trybuna” and “Polska Walczi,” publish details of the Jewish uprising against the Nazis in the Warsaw ghetto. They reveal that several hundred Gestapo men were killed by machine gun fire and by hand grenades on April 18 when they came to “liquidate” the ghetto. During the uprising, partisans succeeded in rescuing a number of Jewish children and in bringing them to a safe place, they report.

Dr. Isaac Schipper, noted Jewish historian, was executed, together with his family, in Warsaw, it was learned here today. He was 59 years old and was, for many years, one of the leaders of the Zionist Socialist movement in Poland. In 1919 he was a member of the Polish Parliament, For many years he was the president of the Jewish Writers Club in Warsaw. In World War I he served in the Austrian Army, first as a private and later as a member of a military tribunal.

JEWS ORDERED TO LEAVE SMALLER TOWNS; MANY KILLED IN WOODS

While “liquidating” the ghettos in the larger cities, the Nazi authorities are ordering the Jews in smaller towns to leave their homes, usually giving them only several hours notice, the Polish underground radio stated today. It reports that more than 1,000 Jews from the villages near the town of Lukov were all driven to neighboring woods and executed.

Giving a partial list of the recent deportations, the Polish radio revealed that 8,000 Jews were deported this month from Zaklikow and Krasnik, 5,000 from Zawichost and 4,000 from Jedrezojw, Pinczow, Busko and Wislica. All Jews have been deported from the townships of Andrychow, Cmielow, Bialo-Podlaska. About 15,000 Jews have been deported from the Bielsk district; 3,000 Jews were expelled from Sokolow, 4,000 from Wengrow, 8,000 from Seredyn and many hundreds from smaller places. The whereabouts of the deportees cannot be established, the broadcast stated.
