The Palestine Government has prohibited publication here of a Reuter report that a cabinet sub-committee appointed by Prime Minister Attlee to make recommendations on British policy with regard to Palestine has rejected the demands of the Jewish Agency for free immigration and for the establishment of a Jewish State. The report was passed by the Palestine censor.
Members of the military court which is trying twenty Jewish youths on the charge of illegal possession of arms today interruptea the trial to visit the place where the defendants were arrested and where the police seized hidden arms. They found that it was a clearing open to all. So far no evidence has been offered to prove that the accused were the owners of the arms.
Traffic was halted today outside of Tel Aviv when a land mine exploded on a road leading into the city. Considerable repairs will be needed before traffic can be resumed. Another explosion in the same vicinity resulted in the cutting of all telephone and telegraph wires.
At the same time, it was reported here today that the Syrian Government has decided to reinforce its patrols on the Syrian-Palestine border “in order to prevent Jews from entering Syria.” Every Jew trying to enter Syria will be arrested, the report said. The Cairo radio reports that Yousef Salem, the Lebanese Minister of the Interior, has ordered that the Palestine-Lebanese border control be enlarged “in order to prevent the smuggling of Jews into Palestine.”
