Practically all of the seventy to eighty thousand surviving Jews in Poland want to emigrate, Rabbi Solomon Schoenfeld, a leader of the (##) of Orthodox Congregations, said today, reporting to a meeting here on his recent visit to that country.

He revealed that at least 20,000 Jews still retain forged identity papers hearing non-Jewish names, because of the continued anti-Semitism and their fear of persecution. Two thousand Jewish children are still living with Polish foster parents, be disclosed.

Despite efforts by the Polish Government to improve the standard of living, the condition of the majority of the Jews is bad, Rabbi Schoenfeld said, adding that the only bright spot is UNRRA, which “is doing a really fine job.”
