Soviet authorities today opened the frontier between Rumania and Soviet Ukraine, permitting unhindered repatriation of Rumanian Jews from the USSR to their native towns.

It is estimated that at least 10,000 of the Jews who had been deported by the pro-Nazi regime to Transnistria will now return to their former homes in Rumania. Hundreds of them have been coming into Rumania even before the frontier was declared open. The Joint Distribution Committee is organizing aid for the repatriates and is making reparations for receiving many thousands of survivors whose return has now been made possible.
