A $6,000,000 Emergency Children’s Campaign to get under way on August 15 was voted today by 1,000 delegates of Jewish fraternal groups attending a luncheon meeting of the Council of Organizations of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York at the Manhattan Plaza.

Dr. Emil Sommerstein, chairman of the Central Jewish Committee of Poland, who has just arrived in this country, described the present condition of the Jewish survivors in Poland. He asserted that the repatriation of 150,000 Polish Jews from Russia which is now taking place is accentuating the crisis confronting the Polish Jewish community, and that more assistance from the Joint Distribution Committee will be needed as a result. Other speakers at the luncheon included Dr. Stephen S. Wise and Judge Jonah J. Goldstein.
