A new wave of anti-Jewish incidents in the rural districts of Transylvania has been reported in the local Jewish press.

Windows in Jewish homes in various villages in the Salaj district of Northern Transylvania have recently been shattered by stones. In at least one small town where police are not vigilant the Jewish cemetery was invaded by an unidentified (##)ang which smashed and overturned tombstones.

The Jewish press here has demanded a governmental investigation of the use of school texts which still include anti-Jewish references. Some time ago, the Ministry of Education promised to purge the schools of all books containing anti-Semitic material.
