Dr. Chaim Weizmann today appealed to the Jews outside of Palestine not to establish Jewish universities in the countries of their residence and to concentrate on aiding the Hebrew University in Palestine.

“As there can be no substitute for Zion, there can be no substitute for Zion’s university in creating eternal spiritualand cultural values for our entire people,” Dr. Weizmann said. He was addressing the annual conference of the Friends of the Hebrew University.

(The American Friends of the Alliance Israelite Universalle in New York announced that the French Association of Friends of the Hebrew University, which was active before the war, is now being reconstituted in Paris. Among the sponsors of the Association are Prof. Rene Cassin, president of the Alliance, and other eminent French scientists, including Professors Hadamard, Baruk, Culon, Lattes, Rapkine, Mandelbrot, Mawas and others.)
