U.S. occupation authorities in Austria have turned over to the Austrian Government former German property in the U.S. zone, including holdings acquired by Nazic from Jews through forced sale or duress and property seized from United Nations nationals through “aryanization.”
The transfer of the property was announced today by Chancellor Leopold Figl. It was also revealed that the Austrian Cabinet has adopted a measure allowing persons who were stripped of property rights for racial or political reasons to apply for restitution until Dec. 31, 1947. Those now living abroad may file their claims with the Ministry of Property Custody here.
