Immigration Minister Arthur Calwell announced today that the United States has promised to help obtain shipping facilities for European displaced persons on route to Australia. A message from President Truman to Calwell, made public by the latter, revealed that the U.S. Government expressed its appreciation of Australia’s efforts to alleviate the DP problem in Europe.
