Israel Appoints First Arab Police Officer; Will Serve As Nazareth Deputy Police Chief

The first Arab police officer ever appointed by Israel was named to the poet of deputy police commander in Nazareth today. He will direct a force of 30 Arab policemen.

There are at the present time 25 Arab policemen employed by Israel in Jaffa. The Israeli police force is divided into three main centers with Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem serving as bases for this network. The Galilee and the Nevev, however, are under military rule.
