The military administration will soon be ended in Jerusalem to make way for the establishment of the city as the capital of Israel, military governor Dr. Bernard Joseph today told the first meeting of the advisory council to the military administration. The council is composed of most of the political parties in the city.
David Remez, Israeli Communications Minister and member of the Cabinet committee on Jerusalem, told the Council that the Israeli Supreme Court would be permanently seated in Jerusalem. He also revealed that the Jewish Agency executive’s offices would be returned to Jerusalem.
An Israeli Army communique revealed that the Arabs opened fire on the Jews at Mokor Haim, Talpioth and the El Alamein camp on the road to Bethlehem, as well as in the vicinity of the Jaffa Gate to the Old City. Last night, Arab legion forces advanced against Jewish positions at Deir Abu Tor and Mount Zion under cover of a heavy curtain of shell fire. However, the Jews repulsed the Transjordan troops.
