Frank L. Weil, president of the National Jewish Welfare Board, was named yesterday by President Truman chairman of a nine-man committee designated by the White House to advise the armed forces on religious, moral and character-guidance problems.

An executive order issued by the President said that it was the policy of the U.S. Government “to encourage and promote the religious, moral and recreational welfare and character guidance of persons in the armed forces and thereby to enhance the military preparedness and security of the nation.”
