A report on the Institute for the Study of Jewish Life Abroad, established recently at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, was presented here yesterday at a meeting of the American Friends of the Hebrew University by Dr. Arieh Tartakower, member of the University’s faculty and acting director of the Institute.
Dr. Tartakower reported that the principal aims of the Institute are: First, the compilation of all date, both published and unpublished, relative to the history of world Jewry from the turn of the century to date, to be used as the foundation for a Central Jewry Archive in Jerusalem. Secondly, to closely investigate and study this material for the possible development of a social policy adapted to the needs of the present crucial period in Jewish history.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
