Chicago Hadassah Raises $425,000 for Medical Work in Israel

More than $425,000 for medical work in Israel was raised here yesterday at a Hadassah luncheon addressed by Vice-President Alben W. Barkley who lauded the aid which the American Government is now giving to the Jewish state under President Truman’s Point Four program.

“The Hadassah effort to lift the standard of living antedated the Point Four program by a generation.” Mr. Barkley said. “Recognizing the human needs incident to the intensification of the Jewish problem all over the world. Hadassah has sought to inaugurate an informal and unofficial Point Four in its efforts to meet the demands of humanity.”
