The McCarran-Walter immigration law was termed by Senator Herbert H. Lehman today “a disgraceful law,” in a message to the Rally for a Fair Immigration Law which will be held here tomorrow at Carnegie Hall. The rally is sponsored by more than 30 organizations and will be addressed by U.S. Senator Richard L. Neuberger.

“The McCarran-Walter Immigration and Naturalization Act is a disgraceful law,” Sen. Lehman said in his message. “In the present state of world affairs, we dare no longer tolerate on our statute books a law which every day is losing friends abroad for the United States. The McCarran Walter Act has dropped a red-tape curtain in front of our country.”
