Jewish Member of Moroccan Cabinet Installed; Welcomed at His Post

Dr. Leon Ben-Zaquen, the Jewish leader who was named yesterday Minister of Posts and Telegraphs in the Moroccan Cabinet, was officially installed today in his post. He was welcomed by the staff of the Ministry at a ceremony in Rabat at which the officials assured him of their devotion and goodwill.

Prime Minister Bekkai today issued a statement emphasizing that Dr. Ben-Zaquen, like all the other members of the Cabinet, is a representative of the entire Moroccan people. The statement was issued after one of the newspapers in Casablanca referred to Dr. Ben-Zaquen as a representative of the Jewish population. It was learned today that Dr. Ben-Zaquen was offered the Cabinet post by the Sultan who summoned him to his residence. His reply was that he will eagerly serve the country and its sovereign.
