A Nazi-like attack on Israel and the Jews of Argentina in the local newspaper “Noticias Graficas” has caused a great stir and protest in the Jewish community here.

The attack, contained in a paid advertisement signed by the “Syrian Cultural Association,” took as its jumping off point a public mass meeting last December organized by the Jewish community here to demonstrate its solidarity with the State of Israel. Among the speakers at that session were members of the leadership of the Provisional Government which was set up after Gen. Peron was unseated. The advertisement voices charges of dual loyalty such as have not been heard in Argentina for a number of years.

After the protest, the newspaper published a weak apology, asserting that the advertisement had been passed by the business department and not by the editorial board. It stressed that the newspaper had no desire to attack the Argentine Jews.
