Queen of Belgium to Visit Israel; Will Stay There Two Weeks

Queen Mother Elizabeth of Belgium has accepted an invitation to visit Israel, it was announced here today. The Queen will arrive in Israel Oct. 30 aboard an El Al-Israel Airlines plane and stay until Nov. 12.

The invitation was extended and accepted yesterday when the Queen received Michael Simon, Israel’s Chief of Protocol, and Israel Minister M. Ariel. Mr. Simon brought the Queen greetings from Israel’s President Itzhak Ben Zvi and Premier David Ben Gurion. He told the Queen that in extending the invitation, President Ben Zvi expressed the desire of the people of Israel to pay homage to the Queen who over the years has shown sympathy for Israel and the Jewish people.

During her visit the Queen will participate in a number of cultural events organized in her honor. She will preside at the ceremonies accompanying the laying of a cornerstone for an Institute of Archaeology to be named for her at the Hebrew University. Queen Elizabeth will be accompanied on her visit by members of her household and Minister and Mrs. Ariel.
