The Government of North Rhine Westphalia intends to conclude the indemnification program for individual victims of Nazism by 1960, two years before the deadline set by law, it was announced here by State Minister of the Interior Hubert Biernat.

From April to September, the North Rhine Westphalian treasury paid out for indemnification purposes as much as during the entire preceding fiscal year. The number of indemnification settlements recorded-during the identical six-month period doubled, Biernat revealed. Within the framework of the amendment to the Federal Indemnification Law, the State Government has enacted a decree coordinating and simplifying certain procedural questions and matters of jurisdiction.
