Israeli circles complain that neither the United Nations nor the Great Powers have shown sufficient energy or effectiveness in halting Egyptian brutality and persecution of the Jews. Meanwhile, each new party of Egyptian Jews who arrive outside Egypt provides new evidence that both the Egyptian Government and highly placed Egyptian officers are robbing evacuating Egyptian Jews.

One way in which the Egyptians rob the Jews is by inducing them to buy Thomas Cook travelers checks at exorbitant prices. When the refugees arrive outside, however, they find that the checks are worthless because the Nasser regime has taken over Cook offices in Egypt.

Other expellees report that Egyptian officers obtain lists of Jews to be expelled and then force them to sell all or most of their property for next to nothing, or face beatings and jail.
