A strike of Kosher butchers against the high price of kosher meats today brought sales of such meat to a standstill in Tel Aviv.

The strike coincided with the confiscation of 10 kilograms of pork meat at butcher shops, restaurants and hotels yesterday in the first enforcement of the municipality’s new anti-pork law. Non-kosher meat dealers let it be known they would defy the new ordinance and continue to supply pork meat in an “underground” sales effort.
