Israel’s Ambassador to Rome, Eliahu Sasson, presented today to Italian Premier Amintore Fanfani an official invitation from Israel’s Premier David Ben Gurion to visit Israel. Last week, on the strength of an oral invitation, the Italian statesman announced publicly that he would visit Israel. Earlier, he had said he would go to Cairo at United Arab Republic Prescient Nasser’s invitation.

The Italian press has commented favorably on the invitation from Israel and its acceptance by Premier Fanfani, interpreting the move as an indication that Italy continues to demonstrate its impartiality and desire for friendship with all Middle East nations.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that the Premier would go to Cairo October 15. Presumably, he will discuss with President Nasser and his colleagues Egyptian-Western rapprochement and specific Italian-Egyptian relations.
