Anti-Semites, crackpots and malicious juveniles continued this week-end the wave of scare attacks on synagogues and other houses of worship and the telephoned threats which started in the wake of the Atlanta synagogue bombing last week.
In the New York area, the latest series of incidents included five bomb threats: three against Jewish Institutions, one against a matzoh factory and the last against the offices of the United Arab Republic. The Jewish institutions were: the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue; the Elizabeth, N. J., Jewish Educational Center, and the New York Guild for the Jewish Blind.
Meanwhile, six boys, ranging in age from eleven to thirteen, have been arrested and have admitted they smashed six windows last week in a Brooklyn Synagogue with stones, New York police reported Saturday. The boys were charged with juvenile delinquency and released in their parents’ custody for appearance Monday in Children’s Court.
In Union, N. J., the county prosecutor announced an investigation against “Common Sense, ” a hate sheet long published by Conde McGinley. The sheet was said to have been distributed in Atlanta and Pegria, III., in advance of the synagogue bombings there.
