A resolution calling upon the governments of the Middle East “to resolve their differences through direct negotiations between Israel and the Arab states, on the basis of mutual recognition of their territorial integrity and national independence” was adopted at Long Beach, at the annual convention of the California Labor Federation of the AFL-CIO.

The delegates, representing 1,500,000 trade unionists in this state, also called on the United States Government and “other free nations” to exert their moral leadership in developing a basis for peace in the Middle East. Still another resolution endorsed the activities of the American Trade Union Council for Histadrut, the Israel Federation of Labor.
