Twenty-three defendants will go on trial here December 20 on charges of killing hundreds of thousands of Jews at the notorious Auschwitz camp, it was reported here today. More than 250 witnesses from Germany and 14 other countries will testify at the proceedings expected to last six to eight months.
The charges against the accused followed a four-year investigation by West German justice officials who said that one of the defendants was an inmate of the camp and the rest were former officers at Auschwitz.
