A street vendor was slightly injured today when a small explosive charge detonated in a rubbish bin near his kiosk on Herzl St. in the old business district of Tel Aviv. The man was carrying the bin when the explosion occurred. He was taken to a hospital where his condition was described as “satisfactory.”
The explosion was the second that day. Three hours earlier another charge detonated in a rubbish bin in a manufacturing district of southern Tel Aviv. No one was injured. Police said that in both instances the charges amounting to 20-30 grams of explosives were concealed in bread loaves.
Funeral services were held at Kibbutz Biram today for Lt. Amit Yechieli, 22, who was killed in a clash with terrorist infiltrators in Upper Galilee near the Lebanese border yesterday. Arab residents of areas near the Israeli border were seen leaving their villages today, apparently in fear of Israeli retaliation for the death of Lt. Yechieli.
